  1. I am intrigued by hammer of the scots, going too look in this one.
What do you think of Bloodstones? I played it once and like the multi-use tiles mechanic

  2. We should have had Janis do this next to the Santas doing fundraisers outside of the local markets. They would be ringing their bells for days, it would help drive donations… That being said, I'd try 8 of those. Well done boys.

  3. It's crazy how these boring looking games start to grow on you once you play them a bit and then somehow you start having problems with how pretty a game looks 😅

  4. SW Rebellion is not a war game?😂

  5. Finally, I have been waiting for Janis top 10 war bgs for ever… thanks for the video! 🙂

  6. Yeah war board game is not the same as wargame, pretty important distinction lol

  7. my fave would be Root, cant get enough of it!

  8. Where’s Root?! I’d love to see you two review it.

  9. I always love the banter and camaraderie you guys have. Good feels 🙂 cheers!

  10. Just got Undaunted, it's a blast. The stepson who is 13 yrs old has just seen Band of Brothers for the first time so Undaunted was a home run.

  11. Throw that bell of boredom away and burn it, this is a great list!

  12. Great list! Two recommendations (for Janis, of course): María and Paths of Glory

  13. The video probably would've been shorter without the bell, but not as fun 😂

  14. This is one of the worst lists of war games. You have missed SO MANY classics. This is honestly embarrassing for you all.

  15. Undaunted is the best board game to introduce people to wargames and board games.

  16. Awesome top! Can you make combat commander review?:)😊

  17. Oh I thought Janis grew a mullet… But it was just his cap 😢

  18. Nice list! I really want to get a copy of Sekigahara

  19. JT is annoying. He's acting like a child with ADHD. A grown man shouldn't have this whole "I'm bored, idc" attitude, even if he's playing it up for the cameras.

  20. My top 10:
    1. Napoleon's Triumph (What a beautiful game, both as a game and as history.)
    2. Here I Stand (Such finely balanced asymmetry, and such a deliciously dramatic period of history. I'm quite happy to see this claiming your top spot.)
    3. Band of Brothers (Ghost Panzer is the one I play, but the whole system is great, and grossly underrated compared with its ASL and Combat Commander brethren. In my eyes this is THE ww2 tactical game.)
    4. The Guns of Gettysburg
    5. Sekigahara (Twilight Struggle is certainly a better game than this. I just like Seki better.)
    6. Twilight Struggle
    7. Totaler Krieg!
    8. Triomphe à Marengo (Yes, I'm putting three Rachel Simmons games on this list. What can I say, she has a strong claim to being the most brilliant designer of the last 20 years.)
    9. Hannibal: Rome vs Carthage
    10. Commands & Colors: Ancients
    11. Virgin Queen (Okay, this is cheating. But I'm pretty sure once i get to play VQ more it's going to win a spot higher on this list.)

  21. If you like Twilight Struggle, I would suggest Imperial Struggle. A great game, and as a bonus, it looks pretty too!

  22. I was expecting War chest in the list. Anyway, thank you for the video 🙂

  23. Thanks for the video! I love the banter. I'm 100% Team Janis T lol I'm not a war board gamer. But would definitely try the ones that are an hour or less.

  24. I love board games! I just bought a beautiful 3D parcheesi on Amazon! Do you know this game? Congratulations on the video! 🙃

  25. I now want to be Janis’ best friend. Bring on Combat Commander anytime!

  26. Damn, Kemet didn't make the cut?

  27. If you want wargames with good graphic design check Vuca Simulations (Red Strike in particular)

  28. I was impressed by Undaunted. Mechanically it's very clever in how it allows for different approaches, and how important it is to observe what the other side are doing to their deck(s) / on the map.

For me, This War of Mine would always be on such a list. It's not a war game, despite the title, but gives a sobering perspective on the impact of war. Something we can sometimes forget when putting ourselves in the shoes of a historic commander.

  29. I would’ve liked to hear more about the games, it’s amazing to hear the passion Janis has for them. I would also play any of these games any day with him.

  30. I didn’t like this bell game. Janis was too focused on Janis and not the audience imo. Your other videos are better though!

  31. Combat Commander Europe & Pacific are the best wargames I've ever played. And I've played them all! (Yes, better, IMO even than ASL which is the hardcore version of them)

  32. If it doesn't have a buttload of plastic minis, it aint a war game. Not cardboard counters. Not wooden meeples. Not paper stand ups. They need to have PLASTIC. I'm glad we could have this talk.

  33. BEST one by far IS Twilight strigle, played hundreds of times, its amazong, here instando IS too long

  34. I am in the same boat as Janis, when with a big smile, I start talking about hex & counters wargames with friends)) they usually say it's fucking boring

but I think amazing flashy artstyle is not everything and it's super cool to play real historical events

Nice list! Keep up illuminating people with cool wargames 😊

  35. Ringing the bell for Undaunted is criminal!

  36. Boring selection, and most of them look soo ugly.
There are much better war games. And the best is Root – its savage, and looks appealing.

  37. I want to see 11-20 wargames. More wargames please!

  38. What about Caesar and 878 Viking (havent played yet both)? Warcry? Haha
