Thanks for this channel. The best. Jamie, you rule. Me and my wife notice the same issues as you and this helps us decide what to play and get to our shelve.
We’ve been wanting to play “don’t get got” for so long.
every time the bell rings when a new game is listed, I turn to check my front door. sounds like my doorbell.
I'm excited for the games this month my birthday is today. I already knew I was getting nemisis and the rest of vast the crystal caverns. Some friends are coming this weekend to play games. It's going to be so much fun. I have akward guests I havent pulled it out yet I will have to.
…I almost Unsubscribed after your Blood Rage critique 🙂 !!! I like all 3 of the trilogy and find Rising Sun the weakest but to each their own! 🙂 *Blood Rage is my favorite game, I can sort of see how it is not for everyone.
I felt like rising sun compensated for kind of a simple game by giving people giant ridiculous minis with the game to distract from the fact that there isn’t that much going on in the game. I think… without the minis would people like the game and the strategy of it?
Targi used to be a staple for my wife and I, but it has been replaced by Welcome to the moon (so good), Cascadia, and Meadow. After A Feast For Odin popped up on BGA…I was like, oh I've got to try this…everybody raves about it…After slogging my way through a 45 min long rules video and one play on BGA..I was like, yeah, it's really detailed, well designed and really makes you feel like you're managing a Viking Clan, but uggghhh…so laborious and not fun.
That was a lot of games! You played some of my favorites… Isle of Skye, Brian Boru and Capital Lux 2…as well. I have wondered if Hallertau would be something I'd like, having never played Agricola or Caverna. If Jamie likes it, I just might have to give it a shot! I'm sure I've asked if you have tried the Red Cathedral before, but if not, I think you would like it. 😃
Well shoot I was thinking of cancelling my preorder for Creature Comforts. Worried it fell into the category of being too much for my 7 year old (and cute but maybe not fun enough to get her to sit at the table for that long) and then not really interesting enough for adults. But maybe I’m wrong with that! So is it staying in your collection?
Creature comfort looks so cute and I really want to try it, seems like a nice little thinky game! For me I finally got Merchants of the Dark road and that was super fun to play but also got a play of Brass and that is always a treat!
Happy Salmon at the office had HR checking up on us in the lunch room. It's been banned from the office.
Jamie learns Jeff is wider…
KY Bluegrass State…
Cash N Guns stepbrother is Goodcritters… fun game. I felt Paranormal Detectives would burn out quickly… maybe. Don't Get Got looks like fun! Have you ever done round 4 in monikers? You use only your hands from behind the couch. Awkward Guests is a brain burner… fun but I hate setup/clean up. Love that cover on Merchants of Magick… looks interesting. Played Tattoo Stories… I did not like it from the start… not sure why but creativity has to be present in all people or non-creative people feel bad and I hated that feeling at the table. A Feast for Odin!!! I got the Norwegian expansion and can't wait to try it. Blood Rage is about remembering the cards and I agree with Jeff it is no fun to teach. What do you guys think about Godfather… I think Jamie would love that. High Society is a great small game… have the two of you tried Hanamikoji… that is a great little game… so much game with so little. Scoat! Man I gotta play Hallertau. Babylonia looks cool… reminds me of Tigris and Euphrates but maybe prettier… that is great game. Birds of a Feather seems like a roll and write based on trick-taking… very interesting… and I love birds. We just played Targi with the expansion which I think is awesome… I won by 2 points. It is defiantly better after you play it a bit but yeah… maybe 3 cards too long… might try that. Creature Comforts just looks too cute to make me want to play… I'll try it sometime.
Thanks Guys! Bye!
That is a lot of games. Looks great.
I am from Kentucky! Lol, look up Hot Browns and you will have a full list of all that is KENTUCKY!
I have Creature Comforts and I love it! 😍
April sounds like it was a great month of games for you two!
For me, April's total plays remained consistent in the 30's, from Feb and March, which is all way down from Jan's 70-ish plays. Too much to do in life the last few months, but I hope we can get more games in this month. But I loved the new games we played in April: Kingdomino Origins, Back to the Future: Dice Through Time, Creature Comforts & Bandada. My favorite was Creature Comforts too. That's a really good game!
Well now I want to know what you called Jeff about his glasses lol. Great stuff as always, my wife and I played Creature Comforts for the first time last month and really enjoyed it as well. Those Canadians know how to make a great board game 🙂
No Silver Bullet?! 😉
GOLEM!
Getting up to some GREAT GAMING!
That opening. 😂 deep breaths Jeff. Everyday lmao am I going to see Star Wars rebellion on here?
Waiting for you both to play those two games behind you in the center 😁. Fun Video as always.
Love the Bears and the Bees! It's a great filler. 😁
I just bought Creature Comforts. I can't wait to get it to the table.
New to me in April:
Cascadia
The Red Cathedral
Great Western Trail
Dinosaur World
Witchstone
The Loop
My favorite was probably The Red Cathedral or Great Western Trail.
Horses, bourbon, fried chicken. Yep, that checks out.
Also agree that Targi is alright. We enjoyed and played about 12 times then sold it long ago but one has to realize Targi came out in 2012 when their weren’t many good 2 player games to where is gained so much praise then hence why it’s one of the ones everyone still talks about (this is the case for many older games). Nowadays the 2 player genre is a MUCH more saturated that you can find many more games similar that really are better. I do highly suggest checking out Foothills (shorter and different than Targi) which is one of our favs and one of Rhados as well.
Love Merchants of Magick, it lives in my office as a lunch break game. I love Targi too. Most Uwe games do not appeal to me; I do really enjoy Indian Summer, it's a great racing game, and Cottage Garden is good, but I hate the scoring at the end.
I'm on the fence with Creature Comforts. I'm always on the lookout for games my daughter and I can play together, but it's hard to tell if a game will be as enjoyable for me, but everyone is raving about it.
Has Jamie tried Meadow yet?
I can't play blood rage…the name alone lol sounds like a 90s cover band
KY represent. Native Kentuckian and don't like horse racing or bourbon 😂😂
Whoa! That’s a lot of games to play in one month. I’m jealous…kinda. We did play Imperial Assault: Legends of the Alliance for 9 hours last weekend. I guess being addicted to board games is way better than an addiction to fried chicken or bourbon. 🙀
Awesome video. I might have to check out Creature Comforts now!
Some great games I'm looking forward to trying. Creature comfort looks like a lot of fun. Thank you as always for the great video.
My issue with Targi is that it takes about an hour. But in that hour I can play a bigger game with nicer components. I think that’s what you mean. For the components in the game, you don’t expect it to take too long.
Possible “fix” for Blood Rage:
Either assign cards at random rather than a draft, or each round players pick one card at random and draft one card. Could reduce the benefit the Blood Rage experts have when playing.
You guys got a lot of of great games played! I love Hallertau! And Creature Comforts is sooo good!
We played creature comforts this weekend and LOVED it! At first it caused a lot of AP. But on our second, third, fourth …. Games it was so much faster and surprisingly brain intensive to find a strategy and score. Not sure if 2 players is enough because the cards do not cycle fast enough and improvements are not as necessary. 3 was a little long while others took turns. But 4 may be way too long. Not sure if the sweet spot for player counts. Thoughts?
Re: Targi: you can actually do your actions (both outside and in) in any order you want, and you can actually trigger the end of the game once one person has filled up their entire grid. That said, if you have a lot of AP, it can easily be an hour and a half game, but once you're more familiar with the iconography it goes a lot quicker. My general strategy is always to take Fata Morgana if I can, because it allows you to move one of your tokens. Also: understanding some of the card synergies helps you build out your tableau faster. Some people complain that it can be a bit dry, but there is a definite puzzle-y element to it that I like. Also: it can be mean, but you can easily stay out of each other's way as well. shrug
Creature Comforts is near the top of me and Rich's MUST HAVE list, just 'cause cute woodland critters.
Still need to play Feast for Odin irl, so I'm jealous! Ugh, love it so much… I'd encourage Jamie to give it a chance, but it's aight, more Viking booty for me!
Another great video, me and the wife really enjoy them. Always so well done and positive! Love them, also really enjoy Jamie’s editing.. just all around great!
I feel like it says a lot about how awesome you two are that these vids prompt such long responses in the comments. I have nothing to contribute lol fun watch.
Glad you all had fun with Cash n Guns. It's been my number one game over the years to get non-gamers involved.
