  1. You’re not the only one with Res Arcana woes. I’ve been unlucky enough to have 2/3 of my games with a collection of cards that were just meh. Thankfully I didn’t own it so didn’t have to cull.

  2. I feel like with any engine builder, if part of the decision space of the game is putting together satisfying combos, then you'll always have some games where the combos don't come together and you're trying to make do with what you have. And at least with Res Arcana the game is quick and you can trash cards for resources. If you haven't given the draft variant a try, that's definitely worth a go.

  3. Always enjoy your content but no sure you can vote a game as this should have been a smash hit then adios it!

  4. If you haven't seen the Dice tower review of Vasco you should check it out and then the apology video. Funny stuff.

  5. Haha. I understand the need for shelf space. I’m struggling too, but worse still, I can’t even seem to throw away empty expansion boxes even after I’ve put the expansion contents with the base game! 😰

  6. Did you feature Hidden Leaders on your culling list at some point? I thought you did but haven't been able to find the review…

  7. I believe in Buy-1-Sell-1 policy….its no use hoarding a huge pile of games coz u just can't let go of them even if you stopped getting enjoyment

  8. I'll be dropping by your house in about an hour to pick up all these awful games and take care of them for you. 🙂

  9. I find that Whistle Mountain can be super tight for resources if your opponents are playing very competitively… I have definitely been starved out of resources.

  10. Whistle Mountain is one of my favorite worker placement games, but I can appreciate why you let it go. It's a bit on the light side, yet very enjoyable and it's one of my favorite worker placement games. Just curious, what are a few of your favorite worker placement games? Thx

  11. Aw man, I'm trying to get The Bloody Inn. But it's not available in Canada and some of the America stores won't ship it to Canada for some reason.

  12. I had a slightly different issue with whistle mountain, and I'd be interested to know your opinion on it. I really didn't like the player controlled' pacing of the game. I played several games were people were unintentionally dragging out the game and several times I had to just push the end game to stop it going on for longer than was fun.
Whatever happened to fixed rounds? Might just be me, but i like to know roughly how long a game will take when I sit down at a table.

  13. You've just reminded me to play kashgar. Lol. Hoping they reprint bloody inn with different art.

  14. Hmm. So you get super excited with all these games rate them 7/8 and get rid of them in a month or two. I can’t keep up. I have bought a lot of games this year based on your recommendation but you moving on to the next thing this fast kinda questions your credibility.

In this case, I would probably rate a game after playing for a solid few months.

  15. I love that you show what the games look like and not just the box cover!

  16. Drafting in Res Arcana helps alleviate the issue you had. We only play with the drafting variant. Might be worth trying if you haven’t.

  17. I thought exactly the same as you about Taj Mahal and moved on my copy last year. The Bloody Inn fell completely flat with my game group and was sold after only 2 games played, which was a shame.

  18. This video has such funny timing since I was downstairs earlier this eveing, listening to music on the couch and looking at my game shelf. My gaze paused on Whistle Mountain, and I thought to myself, "Am I ever going to play that again?" So I guess it's fate that you've mentioned getting rid of your copy. To be fair, I have only played it once, but that game was extremely unmemorable, and I have so many other games that I would rather play before it so we will see. Even more coincidental, I introduced a board gaming newbie to Juicy Fruits this weekend, and as they were leaving, we also discussed playing A Fake Artist Goes to New York at some point since I bought it during the pandemic but have not had a chance to play it yet.

  19. Surprised that A Fake Artist Goes to New York left the collection. It doesn't take up that much room!

  20. I don’t know why I feel so relieved when I don’t own any of these titles. LuL. Great vid once again. Your shirt was like a Magic Eye picture.

  21. I really love Race for the Galaxy but Res Arcana didn’t do it for me at all. Felt like you need to push a thousand buttons and pull a hundred levers to squeeze out a single drop. Hated it.

  22. I really like your videos and your channel deserves more audience. However, you need to invest in a better microphon. Would make the video sound a lot more professional. Great content anyway 🙂

  23. I'm at the point where every new game I get I have to sell one to make room. So I end up selling off some good games. It's part of the deal if you want to try out a lot of new games every month. There are a lot of channels that do top 10 games of the year & I think sometimes ppl are under the impression that if they buy those 10 games they will all be great games for them….but it's not necessarily the case so like all things, buyer beware.

  24. You're just about the nicest guy ever even as you're culling. 🤣

You're not alone with your experience with Res Arcana. I've had two really terrible/frustrating plays of it as well. It's still in my collection. I am going to try it with the draft variant but it could easily be leaving.

Juicy Fruits can stay in my collection. I have kids and lots of family weight instances I want to pull it out at, but can understand why it doesn't really fit into yours.

I completely respect the design of Whistle Mountain and have really enjoyed my plays of it. I do see a runaway leader problem in my plays of it. Sometimes the upgrades just synergize better for some people. I'm keeping it for now. Will I keep it forever? I don't know. 🤣

Everyone will have to start culling eventually. I got rid of Gloomhaven JOTL, Micro Macro and Mind MGMT on Saturday which I know are hugely popular games right now, but just weren't ones I needed to own. 😁

  25. Wow! So many games that have hovered on my "pick up for a good deal" list to try out…. makes me wish I wasn't across the Atlantic from you right now.😅
