I've been playing a lot of Sagani on BGA in solo mode. Also Azul and Architects of the Western Kingdom. I'm just getting into BGA so I've been playing "comfy" games. But I really like to try a few like Ark Nova and Wingspan and such. I'm just afraid because I'm not that familiar and don't want to ruin other folks fun!
If you think innovation is random, I challenge you to win even 2 games out of 10 on BGA with someone with a ranking above 200. If it's random, you should be able to manage 20%.
It's very tactical, so if you don't know the cards & strategies, you'll have a hard time and you won't know why you keep getting beat. Or if you just have two people and neither knows the cards, then it is random.
Checking in on BGStats, I got some interesting numbers for this year…
Top five were:
Tapestry …61? (How the actual F did that happen?!)
Castles of Burgundy 25
Sea Salt & Paper 23
The Adventures of Robin Hood 15 (with expansion)
Architects of the West Kingdom 13
I think the vast majority of these are BGA, but boy, this is an insight into my free time…
no Twilight Struggle? I'm just learning it on Steam
Jeff, what's your favorite group in rout
I need to get on BGA more often! Do you play on your phone or computer?
HI-CHEWS ARE BOMB!!! Keep giving them more chances. They’ve legit become my favorite fruity candy. And now my masseters are massive.
Conquest is a great way for tournaments with multiple characters/decks. You pick a set amount of characters (9 for example) and you have to win with all your characters. So once you win with Bruce Lee for example, you can’t use him for the remainder of the tournament. You nee going until someone won all..
As for my most played games of 2023:
Cartographers
Point Salad
Sagrada
Under Falling Skies
Conspiracy
I was certain you would have an obsession with Obsession, Jamie! Love that game as well. Most played for me is Castles of Burgundy. Playing the digital version and the new tabletop release with all the pretty things.
I cannot tell you how happy I am that Jamie is back into marvel, champions! Gosh, I hope we get to play together at PAXU. Definitely stream it I would love to come be a nuisance in the chat.
PS Jeff welcome to the light side of the force like in games that can be set up in five minutes. I think I learned pretty quickly that this is a much better way for me to get my non-gamer friends into games and get to play more and more.
Looking forward to the sea salt and paper coming more easily found!
Arkham horror has skyrocketed to my most played this year, it was high last year but has taken over!
It would be really cool to see maybe a comparison between your most played and how they rank with your past top 50 at the end of the year
My stats are about to SKYROCKET (just finished my full draft of my MA thesis a couple hours ago!!! Just gotta get feedback, revise, defend, and see Taylor Swift, then allllll of my responsibilities are job applications wooo) but so far my top 10 most played are:
Villainous: 120
Wingspan: 76
Turing machine: 65
Herbaceous: 44
Floriferous: 43
Spirit island: 39
One night ultimate werewolf: 27
Forbidden island: 22
Sunset over water: 22
Oceans 21
Can we build bunk beds?
😂 Tropical sugar!
Our friends say they can play Ark Nova on BGA in 18 minutes! Is it that short on BGA. 100% love on Obsession.
😂 your discord is awesome. I love the folks there!
I’ve played Final Girl a lot, but so far never survived it…
Thank you so much for the sea salt and paper update, been dying for that game and now at least there is an end in site!
My most played games are Race for the Galaxy, Rolling Realms, and It's a Wonderful World. My most played Uwe is Hallertau — I just find that one addictive.
Fun list. Thanks.
I can’t believe you stole my birthday, it was mine long before you came around. Happy Birthday Jeff hope you are having a wonderful day. 🎂 🥳 🎁
Some of mine are Parks, Hadrians Wall, Three Sisters and Cascadia.
Loved this video ❤❤❤
Jamie, I had no clue you were in the band! What did you play? Band Director here, trumpet player here. If I had to guess either flute or trumpet
Potion Explosion is my most played. I would love to play some of the newer ones like obsession and ark nova, but I don’t know how to play them. L O L. Also happy birthday Jeff! Mine is coming up at the end of the month as well. July babies for the win! ❤🎉
I think Triqueta ist better than sea, salt and papers
You should choose your Villainous characters randomly for the tournament. Make it single elimination, playing the same character until it loses. We need to find out who is truly the most VILLAINOUS, character and person! 😁
have a sea salt and paper pre-order and am so excited for it. wish I could have it before our cruise in a month would be great to bring on that, but Town 66 will come
Town 66 stays in our car bag of games.. we never leave home without it. Some of our top games so far… Silver Bullet, Quantum, Splendor Duel, Root, SCOUT!
Jamie I love Marvel Champions – I will watch your stream!!!!! How much does BGA cost?
Final Girl is also my most played game this year, by a wide margin. I've played Final Girl 19 times, Strike 9 times, and Food Chain Island 6 times. Those are my top 3. Also, you KNOW I'm excited for your Unmatched tournament!!
Marvel Champions is spreading like wildfire in my gaming group right now! I kept telling one of my good friends how much he would love it and he never believed me. Well, after a 2 player session fighting expert Klaw as our first game, he was in love. Then when I had a group gaming day we both got a 4 player expert Ultron game in… now everyone is buying their favorite champions for next session 😊
I refuse to give up until I win—classic
Was that a Chewbacca roar? Nicely done.
I was surprised to see I have 55 plays of Turing Machine this year, followed by (not surprisingly) Boop with 52.
Booooooooooop!
after all the hype, I finally gave in and paid 27usd ! 😢 for Sea Sal & Paper on eBay, I played it just today july 9th, and boy oh boy! I now get what the whole fuss was about, what an amazing little game, this game along with Totten Schotten 2 and Scout and Skulls of Sedlec go in my EDC permanently 😉
I think Stonewall Uprising has shot to the top, just because we had to play it so much to film our playthru…. which was quite an epic journey, let me tell you XD
It amazes me that you guys get so many board games played. That lets me know that you both are true to the game, pun intended.
For me it's Arnak with the expansion, mostly solo though. Followed by Red Rising, also mostly solo.
